Due mostly to a combination of government, mainstream media, and social media bias (which heavily leans "left"), the United States has devalued the political process. The result is a diluted set of beliefs that cause people to vote for who they "like" rather than supporting the party that shares their beliefs and principles.
It also leads to illogical outcries like the request to get rid of the Electoral College - the last line of defense against a decline into unlimited socialism and chaos (as well as increased discrimination against minorities).
